Building Information Modelling (BIM)

BIM has fundamentally redefined the way projects are delivered within the construction industry by integrating multidisciplinary data and making this available centrally, enabling real-time collaboration and informed decision-making. We recognised early on that BIM represented a significant change in the industry and as early adopters we have been proactive in incorporating it into our design process to enhance our ability to meet our clients’ needs. Our team have now been working in / with?? BIM for over 10 years, with over 20 projects undertaken this year alone throughout the UK, where BIM Level 2 has been central to the design process.

By using BIM and the common data environment (CDE) to provide a single source of intelligent data, these projects were delivered more efficiently and effectively than traditional methods would allow. Our building services engineers used BIM to establish and assess the relationships between different building services, allowing us to embed sustainability in our designs and ultimately deliver low energy solutions. Upon completion, we were able to hand over data-rich building models to the client, compliant with PAS 1192 and with all relevant CoBIE data. Provision of this information supports clients in the ongoing operation and maintenance of their building, generating cost savings throughout the life cycle of their mechanical & electrical (M+E) building services systems. With this in mind, we ensure that all our engineers are familiar with the relevant software, standards and working methods necessary to allow BIM to continue to be a fundamental part of our design process.
