The Good Shepherd Secure Centre Facility was built in the grounds of the existing Open School and Residential Unit. The building provides 18 Secure 6 Close support and 1 admission bedroom together with Education, Physical Education, Administration and Central Catering and Laundry Facilities. The building was designed around a number of  Courtyards which provide external areas which can be utilised for general recreation throughout the year.

All main services are run within the roof void and drop into each area/room. Maintenance of the services is therefore carried out without the need  to enter certain areas of the building, in particular bedrooms and house units. Security internally and externally is provided by means of CCTV, Door Access Control and Staff Attack Alarm Systems which are all integrated to provide fast response to incidents.

Air Locks which are controlled from the central communications hub are located at strategic points in the building to control the movement of children and avoid potential conflicts with other house units.
