St. Marys Kenmure Secure Care Facility, Glasgow

Client: CORA Foundation
Location: Glasgow
Value: £7,200,000
Main Contractor: AMEC

The new building at St. Marys Kenmure provides 30 secure, 6 close support and 1 admissions bed, complete with Support Education, Physical Education, Administration and Catering Facilities. The building replaces the old unit, which was built in the early 70’s, with modern facilities which provide security by means of the wrap-around building design which forms a secure courtyard and recreational space.

The building has been designed to avoid ligature risks, provide safe access for maintenance and create an atmosphere and an environment which allows the young people to maximise the positive input obtained from a period in care. The roof space provides a large plant area which allows the maintenance of the services within the house units to be carried out from above, thereby preventing the risk of tools etc. being inadvertently left within the house units.

Specialist services include Access Control, Air Locks, Personal Attack Alarm System and CCTV / Security.
